I found Dwiggins's work in marionettes to be very unique but unsettling. I also found the “M-Formula” that he created to be very helpful when adding characteristics to lettering, which gives it a nice appearance. Dwiggins's work really reflects the old fashioned appearance of his time period which adds a unique charm to his work.
This photo captures the meticulous and hands-on process behind W.A. Dwiggins’ type design, illustrating his deep respect for letterform structure and craftsmanship. Each curve and stroke is drawn with precision and intentionality, highlighting his ability to blend calligraphic fluidity with typographic clarity. It’s a reminder that behind every great typeface is a designer who understands the balance between art and function.
This is some artwork by W.A. Dwiggins that shows his innovative use of stencils and ornamental forms that blend his precision with a decorative flair. He shows how these elements demonstrate how abstract shapes can be recombined to form these "intricate, stylized botanical motifs". I think that it's a perfect example of Dwiggins' work and how ornaments can be both "modern and expressive".
